Day 5 of Juicing

This morning I woke up feeling great! I weighed in at 210.8 and the hubby @ 338.  Together we have lost 22 lbs in 4 days. Pretty amazing.  We decided that this reboot was a success. We will juice today and have a salad tonight. No regrets! Well what about stopping earlier than originally discussed. We realized that this was a lifestyle change for us. It was not about losing weight although that is part of it, it was about healing a disease although disease prevention was part of it. It was about leading a healthy lifestyle. We have bought Dr. Furhman's book called Eat to Live.

My husband even said tonight that he was committing to eating less meat. I almost fell out of my chair. He is craving a steak right now.

For dinner we went to Jason's Deli because they have organic veggies and they purchase from local farmers. I have a cup of organic veggie soup which was amazing. I had never had it before. I also got the salad bar. All fresh veggies. It was yummy. I couldn't finish it all. I did bring it home. The challenge with this new lifestyle is finding ways to use leftovers quickly. Without all the preservatives, food goes bad. I am used to packing the frig with leftovers. I got to change that habit.

Day 4 of Juicing

Woke this morning and weighed in at 211.8. Seriously?? Yes! Hubby weighed in at 340.5. Ok, so we decided to take it day by day. We are very pleased with the results. I can apply for health insurance and get a decent rate once I am under 200 lbs. That is my immediate goal.  I made tea today so hopefully I won't have those hunger pangs like I did before. It really would be good if I can keep this up through next week while working out. I have been going to bed early.  I have also been getting up early.  Odd change in my sleep cycle.

I must say I feel good. As far as the hubby, it looks like his hair is starting to grow back! That was wild. He doesn't like because he is used to being bald and now he will have more to shave, but for those wanting hair what a great way to get it. It makes me wonder if this affects testosterone...hmmm.....

More to come

Ok...I went through the afternoon and forgot about my last juice til about 5pm. Wow! The toughest is still on the way home when we would normally stop and have dinner or pick up take out. We are still taking it day by day, but it seems likely that we will add a salad in for dinner starting the weekend. The hubby was craving some chicago style pizza and steak. I don't really crave anything. I just miss eating. Weird huh? I have been told by a couple of people that I look like I am dropping weight and it's only been 4 days now. I do feel good. I sleep good.

Day 3 of Juicing

Wow! It only gets better. Yesterday I had a couple of hunger pangs but they went away quickly when I drank my green tea. I sweeten it with fresh apple juice (yummy)! I am happy to report this morning I weighed in at 213.2. That is a loss of 4.3 lbs in 2 days. More importantly I got up at 5 am to make our juice and I am not an early morning person. My husband weighed in at 345.4. That is almost a 10 lb drop....in two days. Plus, he is noticing some other really good affects-if you know what I mean-It's amazing! I will say his headache last night was pretty rough. The weird thing is we are mostly just peeing. There very little poop. Not sure if that's cool so I will research it.

Yesterday I was tempted with some birthday cake for me, but I graciously bowed out. I am hoping to start working out next week.

Wow! It definitely got tougher today. OMG! I didn't have my green tea instead I did just plain ole water. Ugh! It was tough. My husband and I are both wondering if we bit off more than we could chew with a 3 week fast. Hmmm.... I told him I would not feel like a failure if I can do one week and then continue to juice for breakfast and lunch and eat a microbiotic dinner. He said he wouldn't feel like a failure if he ate a steak today....lol. But he then said he wasn't going to do it. Stay Tuned

Day 2 of Juicing

Not too bad today. I was offered birthday cake. It was actually not too difficult to say "no." Not much hunger today. I made a pitcher of green tea and sweetened with fresh apple juice. It was yummy. I am getting the funky coating on my tongue but not too bad. I am hoping that my recent years of fairly healthy eating is what is making this do-able. About 6 years ago, I did the master cleanse and the first couple days were brutal.

I under-estimated the amount of food, so I have to make a pit stop by the grocery store tonight. I hope there are some good fruits to choose from.

I have noticed that I get really cold at work. I must admit that I am a cold-natured person. So I am using a blanket & sweater.  More to come...

Day 1 of Juicing

My husband and I started a juice fast today. Let me back up. I watched a movie called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead". Then I had a physical and was told I was borderline for Metabolic syndrome and that there were pills that I could take. Oh and those with metabolic syndrome were likely to develop Type 2 diabetes. I decided then and there that this was not going to happen to me. So i weighed in at 217.5 and my hubby weighed 353. We knew we were out of shape even though most of the week we, worked hard at eating a decent dose of veggies. Not so much fruit. Today, as expected I was a bit tired. However, no headache. I think because I had already weened myself off coffee. We will see what tomorrow brings. Days 1-4 are supposed to be the toughest.
